In a battle of unbeaten heavyweights, Chris Areloa (24-0, 23 KOs) defeated Chazz Witherspoon (23-1, 15 KOs) by third round disqualification. Arreola dropped Witherspoon twice in round three, the second time at the bell. Referee Randy Phillips gave Witherspoon an eight count at which point Witherspoon's corner entered the ring to try to help Chazz back to the corner and Chazz was DQ'd.
